Rock & roll, jazz, R&B, hip-hop: Without question, today's most popular sounds owe an incalculable debt to that uniquely American musical creation -- The Blues. This book tells about how rock and roll rock n' roll challenged and changed American culture, and laid down the foundation for the social rise of the sixties. And how it gave teenagers a sense of differentiation from others, and also helped people express themselves and there culture, verbally and emotionally instead of physically. For instance, the birth of rock coincided with the Civil Rights movement and brought "race music" into many white homes for the first time.
